Moisture Adjustment

Moisture adjustment is applied prior to applying any qualifying quality adjustment factors such as test weight, kernel damage, etc. Moisture adjustment results in a reduction in production to count of 0.12 percent for each 0.1 percent moisture in excess of 15 percent through 30 percent and 0.2 percent reduction for each 0.1 percent above 30 percent.

Pack Adjustment

Granular materials compact under their own weight, primarily due to particle rearrangement, leading to an increase in bulk density and a change in volume when stored. Pack adjustment factors are used to estimate storage capacities and to accurately monitor grain inventories.

Moisture Adjustment

Moisture adjustment is applied prior to applying any qualifying adjustment for quality such as test weight, kernel damage, etc. Moisture adjustment results in a reduction in production to count of 0.12 percent for each 0.1 percent moisture in excess of 13 percent.

Measuring grain moisture plays a crucial role in identifying the grain's quality, storage, and sale weight. These factors contribute to a producer's bottom line and being vigilant on the moisture level in their grain is integral to a producer's operations.
