This summer, Product Owner intern Ben Bettis worked on the FMH Agent Center Batch Upload enhancement, helping improve how policy documents are processed. We asked Ben about his experience and what he learned along the way.
What was your role with the Batch Upload enhancement project?
As the Product Owner intern, I worked with business stakeholders, developers, and user experience designers to gather requirements, create prototypes, write user stories, and help prioritize features. My role was to make sure the final solution met business goals while also making the process easier for agents.
How did it feel to work on a project that will directly benefit FMH agents? It was rewarding to know the work would have a lasting impact instead of ending with the internship. Seeing stakeholder feedback shape the design and knowing the enhancement will save agents time and reduce frustration made the project especially meaningful.

What surprised you most about working at FMH? Before my internship, I didn't realize how much technology supports the crop insurance industry. Working with Underwriting, Business Intelligence, and other teams gave me a greater appreciation for the systems behind the scenes and how they help agents and farmers every day.
What do you hope agents notice when they begin using the enhancement? I hope agents find the feature intuitive and notice that uploading documents is smoother and less frustrating. Knowing something I helped design will improve their day-to-day work is the most rewarding part of my internship.
