FMH Statement on Oct. 1, 2025, Government Shutdown

The following statement has been sent to FMH agency partners. For policyholders with questions about MPCI crop insurance impacts due to the shutdown, please contact your FMH agent.

Due to the ongoing legislative debate in Washington D.C., the federal government has shut down all non-essential operations effective October 1, 2025. As a result, all business operations at the USDA and Risk Management Agency (RMA) are in a limited capacity.

The shutdown impacts RMA’s delivery and service of MPCI crop insurance products throughout the U.S. This has created some procedural challenges for FMH, but we will continue to conduct business as usual, including paying claims, generating quotes, writing new policies, and routine operations for our agents and policyholders.

If a prolonged government shutdown occurs, we will continue to communicate with you, our agents, if agent and policyholder processes are affected. In short, we will do everything we can to ensure our policyholders are not greatly impacted by the shutdown. As a mutual company owned by our policyholders, America's farmers, we remain committed to providing peace of mind for those we protect.

If you have any questions or concerns, please contact your FMH Sales Manager.

We encourage you to act now by reaching out to your elected officials to continue advocating for crop insurance and to talk about the impact of the government shutdown.

On behalf of Farmers Mutual Hail Insurance Company, thank you for your continued trust in us, and we look forward to a return to regular operations soon.
