The CIRB ELP creates an opportunity for FMH employees to learn how to advocate for the crop insurance industry by meeting with elected officials and learning about policy issues.
Magee said that one of the biggest takeaways from her experience in the program was the opportunity to participate in the Washington D.C. Fly-In on Capitol Hill and meet with elected officials. She added, “I value the ability to gain a better understanding of the biggest challenges faced by CIRB member companies similar to FMH and the opportunity to network with them.“
Educating, advocating, and sharing ideas across the industry strengthens insurance and ultimately benefits FMH, its agents, and policyholders with improved coverage. FMH relies on advocacy organizations like CIRB to continue protecting and growing the crop insurance program to provide our industry and producers with a stable financial safety net.
Fellow ELP participant Meade said, “The collaboration, teamwork, and support experienced across the industry is uncommon for competitors! I believe it's something unique to this industry and shows the commitment we all have for its success.“
He plans to stay in contact with the many ELP members he’s met and use his experience with CIRB as a catalyst to build awareness with agents and coworkers of ongoing CIRB advocacy efforts. Meade also encourages others to continue advocating for the crop insurance program through education.
With a total of 22 CIRB ELP graduates since the program was founded in 2015, FMH is committed to representing the interests of our company, agents, and policyholders.
